3 nights tsavo east taita hills trekkeing safari
This 4 days tour brings you to cool fresh air highlands with beautiful unrestricted views from the peaks. The combination of hiking up the hills through homesteads of the local inhabitants and the game drives in the largest game park in Kenya breaks the monotony of the classic safaris in vehicles. If you happen to visit in mid year between May and June you may be lucky to enjoy fresh fruits like bananas and avocados fresh from the farm among other farm products from these highlands.
Day 1.
Depart from Mombasa in the morning to reach Voi town in time for lunch. If coming from Nairobi by train, connect with your safari driver at Voi town. Drive uphill towards Wundanyi town with stop over at Mwchora peak with a panoramic bird’s eye view of the sprawling plains. A visit to Mwashoti and Kenyatta caves will give you a glimpse of the culture of Taita people and the events related to Kenya’s freedom fighters. Arrive at Lavender resort in Wundanyi town for dinner and overnight.
Day 2.
Early morning breakfast before embarking on an expedition to conquer Vuria hill culminating at 2, 228 m above the sea level. On a clear day the peak offers unrivaled views of Tsavo west national park and Mount Kilimanjaro to the west, the Pare Mountains to the south and the sprawling lowlands around the hill. Picnic lunch at the summit before taking the Steps down the hill to head back to Wundanyi town for dinner and overnight at Lavender resort. The journey to and from Vuria hill gives you an opportunity to interact with the local population while on their day to day activities as you pass across their homesteads
Day 3
Breakfast at Lavender resort. Leave for Tsavo East, the largest park in Kenya famous for its population of red elephants. Lunch at Zomeni lion Hill Lodge perched on top the Hill overlooking the Park. Afternoon game drive in Tsavo East National park. Dinner and overnight at lion Hill Lodge.
Day 4. Early breakfast at the lodge. Depart for a morning game drive en route to Mombasa. Arrive in the afternoon. Alternatively drop off at Voi railway station for your journey to Nairobi by train. Lunch not included.
